We are currently seeking new members!

Membership in the Ashford Volunteer Fire Department is open to all citizens of
Ashford who are 16 years of age or older. Those interested in participating in
department activities can apply for one of two classes of membership--active and
social.

Active members are those who respond to fire, medical and rescue emergencies.
Active membership requires specialized training and a defined level of
participation in department operations. Some active members choose to
specialize in multiple operational areas whereas others specialize in only one.
The department provides all active members with their training and personal
equipment free of charge.  In addition, they receive such other benefits as
accidental death and dismemberment insurance and a property-tax abatement
after two years of service to the department.  Upon joining the department, active
members serve a six-month probationary period.

Social Members are those who wish to participate in the social activities of the
organization.  In general, social members do not take an active role in the
department's emergency service activities and do not operate fire department
emergency equipment.

Persons meeting membership requirements and interested in applying should fill
out an application (available below) and present it at the next regular meeting of
the organization.  Regular meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each
month at Station 20 (on Route 89 just north of the intersection with Route 44) and
begin at 7:30 p.m.
